Last Pday

July 3, 2017

Without a doubt these last few days have been stressfull..... the kind of days that have you pacing the room all morning, and up late at night.... but it was the most rewarding.

As i mentioned before we were burdened with what seemed like an impossible task of Marrying one of our couples, Samuel and Glenda..... there were a few paperwork issues, and Honduras is a mess that the DMV looks more like a trip to Disney World. However it all turned out well and my last week included a wedding, a wedding party, and 4 baptisms.

Here are the pictures

Samuel and Glenda making it official

The lucky ones and I

All in all it was a great week, and an awesome way to celebrate my birthday

Big props to my District. Crazy to think of all the problems and challenges we had here, and how we were able to become the highest baptizing district in the mission

All in all its been an amazing adventure. Hard to believe its time to go really..... in two years you spend a lot of time thinking about home, and when the time comes to go home, you really dont want to go.

Thanks to all who have read and kept up with my emails, and those who have followed me on the journey.

James 2:17 - even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

My homemade foods

Well this week has been very interesting..... lots of ups and downs with our investigators but i will stick with the good news!

After maaaannnyyyy challenges and problems, we have found the solution to get samuel and glenda married and baptized before i go..... which is nothing short of a miracle considering how corrupt and disorganized this country is...... so yeah! Win!

So this week we did more service......
Helped prepare some land for farming....

Whats up friends and family.... we are getting close!

Last week we had my last multi zone conference.... and it was pretty awesome

gave me more insight on how to finish these last few weeks strong!

Hope everyone is well!

Things are good..... my relationship with my companion has been just fine. Shame it couldnt be this way from the start.

Working on bettering my relationship with the members. Been getting too frustrated and what my grandpa would call Grumpy with a lot of leaders. After the Multi zone I asked some to forgive me for being pridefull at times.

still struggling with this one couple to get them married. Really sad to see how quickly our plans fell through when we were so quick to get everything done. They really are investigators of gold. I hope to do as much as i can to get them married and baptized even if it wont be in my time.

Things are good though. Doing my best to stay focused.

June 12, 2017

well i have come to the point where all my shoes have holes in them...... even if they have been restitched twice....

But as President Said, ´´Pedal to the metal dover´´  haha

This week involved a trip to San Pedro once again...... and along the way (after going to McDonalds and making a run in the play place) i got to meet up with Douglas and his wife and he gave us a ride from my old area San Juan back to progreso.....

Luego, i we had 2 baptisms which was pretty cool. Had our ward conference and we had an awesome turnout of members, and 15 investigators

I also found for the first time in 2 years and icee.....

hence the blue teeth in the first pic

in the final stretch, still trying to get Samuel and Glenda married...... basically this government is a mess, and they have placed numerous problems in the way, when we were at the last step but oh well..... pray for me!

other than that things are still incredibly hot here but im enjoying it!

May 29, 2017

Hey whats up y'all.....

In my never ending quest (well i guess it ends in 5 weeks hehe) to not have boring pdays, We planned a good ol´ fashion BBQ.

We were a little limited on the resources but i think it all went well..

And here are all the talentless people who couldn't make food for themselves!

And then there is us.....

All in all it went well.... got some good baptisms coming up, and this week we were able to pull out almost all of the wedding papers for Samuel and Glenda!

well on Wednesday we took angel mejia to the clinic just for a check up. And when we got there, we found a new medical brigade of docs from the states..... but these where all mormons... Ex mission pres. and ex senior couple.  Sent angel into the Operation room ASAP and got his other eye fixed free.  The nurse wife lady was like so happy to see us and took a bunch of pics like hugging me almost lol and asked for your email to send em off.  the abuelo now sees a whole lot.
May 22, 2017

Hey everoyne!

So just a quick story for this week.....

We have been visiting and have become good friends to say the least with a Guy named Angel Mejia, a recent convert..... a very old man who has suffered a lot in his life and has been through several accidents and is handicapped and was without vision.

Due to his condition he has been very dependent on the help of others in just about every aspect. Lives in a small block house given to him..... food is all given to him by the grace of others and so forth.

But man is the guy awesome. So we wanted to help him out.

We have spent the last few weeks doing check ups and visits with him to get ready for surgery to remove a catarac from one of his eyes.....

Thanks to the help of the eye clinic here in progreso (who basically took away most of the costs) and a medical brigade from the states things worked out and he recoverying right now and we are working with him to make a ¨negocio propio¨ (his own business) so he can support himself.

The Doctors got me a pretty sick video of the surgery. And when i say sick, i mean it in everyway possible.... so for those of you who dont like seeing videos of..... idk real operations and stuff like that (idk) ill just send it in a seperate email..... but the video isssss pretty cool

next pday should be fun. Im planning a small little house party thing i guess in my house, Since  my house is big and has a couch.  We a going to get a grill and grill up some meat and pineapples for the entire zone , it should be pretty cool

Anyway for now im really trying to focus on a good small group of investigators that we have right now, Mainly on Samuel and Glenda so they can get married ASAP.   Going to do whatever i need to in order to get all their papers in line
Went and visited them with an Abogada (someone who works with laws and stuff) and she gave us a bunch of ideas and made it a lot easier, so hopefully we can get em married asap. I'm still working hard tyrying to get a lot done before i go

May 15, 2017

This week was one for the records.

We started out on wednsday with a district family history meeting..... and with family history not usually being the most blood pumping activity i threw down 15 lbs of chinese food to make it exciting. All in all it went well

After that i had divisions and went out to practically climb and hike the jungle mountains of honduras.

While out and about preachin the evangelio de Jesucristo we had a close call with a bull.... nearly had to lasso him down with my tie, but i held back

and if nearly wrestling a bull to the grown in church slacks isnt manly enough Elder jackson and i Had a axe off as we helped a brother out with his firewood.  Sadly the city of arizona where jackson is from has a ratio of axes to people of about 3:1 and due to a lack of warming up my axing skills were no match to his.....

And after a good ol day of divisions i got back to my area to have a few baptisms

we decided to try to make this baptismal service a little more special than the norm so we made these cool little service card things and we got a cake made and pepsi......

In case you wonder where my stickers go...

Here's a copy of something Broderick wrote and email to the mission... if you can read it .. English translation below it.. thanks to Google translate

24 Y llegando también el que había recibido un talento, dijo: Señor, te conocía que eres hombre duro, que siegas donde no sembraste y recoges donde no esparciste;
26 Y respondiendo su señor, le dijo: Siervo malo y negligente, sabías que siego donde no sembré y que recojo donde no esparcí;

Now in English..

Elders and Sisters these days, President has trained us even more about our need to increase our achievements. He knows we can do more. He knows each of our strengths. That is why he is asking for more. Many times as missionaries, we make excuses. Let's say, "The neighborhood does not help me," or many times "my area is burned," and we often think, "I've done enough, I do not have to do more." Instead of coming out, and looking for success (because success does not come to the door just because we have fasted and prayed), we are happy with what we have. In other words, we do not do more. Of course, in many cases, those excuses can be applied to your area. There are many difficulties in the work, and many times these challenges exist. They are problems that all have happened in some time of the mission. But will you let those challenges stop your success as a missionary? Why is President asking me for more?

Let's read Matthew 25: 14-30 14 For the kingdom of the heavens is like a man who, going afar off, called his servants and entrusted to them his goods. 15 And to one he gave five talents, and to the other two, and to the other one, to each according to his ability; And then went away. 16 And he that had received five talents went and dealt with them, and gained five other talents. 17 And he who had received two also gained two more. 18 But he that had received one went and dug in the earth, and hid the money of his master. 19 And after a long time, the lord of those servants returned and made an account with them. 20 And when he had received five talents, he brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou hast commanded me five talents; Behold, I have gained five other talents upon them. 21 And his lord said unto him, Well, thou good and faithful servant; Thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; Enter into the joy of your master. 22 And he that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou hast given me two talents; Behold, I have gained two other talents upon them. 23 His master said to him, "Well, good and faithful servant; Thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; Enter into the joy of your master. 24 And he that had received a talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, that thou reapest where thou sowest not, and gatherest where thou hast not scattered; 25 And I was afraid, and I went and hid thy talent in the land; Here is what is yours. 26 And his master answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and careless servant, thou knewest that I reap where I have not sown, and that I gather where I have not scattered; 27 Therefore, you should have given my money to the bankers, and when I came I would have received what is mine with interests. 28 Take away the talent and give it to him who has ten talents. 29 For to him that hath shall be given, and shall have more; And to him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away from him. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness; There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Each of you have received your talents.

In my example, I would like to explain that the number of talents refers to their areas. Some of you have received an area of five talents. That is, it has the support of the members, dinner every night, there are many researchers and converts, and it has practically the area '' soft '' as we say. At the same time many of you have received your two, or perhaps just a talent. In many of her areas there are challenges, there are problems, her cook charges a lot, and the only reference she has received from her neighborhood has already passed away. There is MUCH to do in your area.

I would like to remind you of the words found in Preach My Gospel, page 145. "You have been assigned to do the work of the Lord in a specific place and He wants you to take care of that area with great love and care. Your goal will be to help others come to Him through baptism and confirmation. Do your best to leave your area stronger than you found it. "

Each of us has received our many talents. Be five, two, or a talent. But, I also know that with certainty that each of us have been called and set apart to be a profitable servant, as verse 21 says. Elders and sisters, it is your job to multiply your talents. It is their call to take what they already have, and multiply it. Sure, there are many challenges, but I know we can achieve more. We must not be the evil and negligent servant. We can not be afraid, and hide our talents on earth. We have a small portion of the Lord's work here. As it says in second Nephi 10:19, "He that diligently seeks, shall find." It is our call, and duty, to grow that small part, to bring double to our Lord. I want to finish with one last writing. Alma 29: 6 Now, seeing that I know these things, why should I desire anything more than to do the work to which I have been called?

Hey what up guys!

This week was a little crazy with temps reaching 113.... but dont worry, a shower at 1 30am completely dressed keeps me cool enough to sleep when its still 90 degrees at night!

We started the week doing a service project at a bilingual school founded by this guy from virgina.... he came to honduras when he was 18 and started charity funds to build houses, and now, 10 years later it has grown into its own little town and school that teaches the literature that they teach in the states.... which is pretty difficult out here.... and the school is run mostly by Gringos!

And we ended the week with a baptism!

And we had a backyard tarde de hermanamiento in the house of our progressing family of Samuel! It was a pretty cool little meet up and the 6 liters of Pepsi i brought made it gold!

so we took the older guy to do a vision test, he actually has cataracts and cant see properly.  now the bishop is actually willing to help so we will see what happens, the operation costs is around 100 to 150 bucks, but ill work with the ward.
